Bragg Creek is a designated place (an unincorporated Hamlet ) in southern Alberta , 30 kilometres west of Calgary on Bragg Creek (along Highway 8 ). It is located in Rocky View Municipal District in Division No. 6 . The population according to the 2001 Statistics Canada census is 678. It lies near the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 22X .

The area is a popular spot for vacations and short day trips from Calgary. It is near the Rocky Mountains and Kananaskis . The Elbow River runs nearby the Hamlet before continuing to Calgary. Elbow Falls is only a short distance away.

Bragg Creek is popular for shopping in its quaint shops, restaurants, and its mountain scenery. It is home to more artists and artisans per capita than any other community in Alberta.

There are many recreational areas within the region. These include Bragg Creek Provincial Park , as well as Elbow Falls, Alberta and the Canyon Creek Ice Cave , also known as the Bragg Creek Ice Cave. There are numerous hiking/biking trails, equestrian trails and picnic/camping areas, all of which are close to the Rocky Mountains . Skiing is a popular winter activity in the area, although since the abandonment of the nearby downhill ski centre Wintergeen, only cross country skiing exists as an option.
