Wiggins was born in Ghent , Belgium but grew up in Maida Vale , London . He won gold in the 4km Individual Pursuit in Athens before winning a silver in the Team Pursuit , and a bronze with Rob Hayles in the Madison . At the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics , Wiggins won bronze in the team pursuit. Wiggins will ride for the French professional road Cycling Team Cofidis in 2006. In 2005 , Wiggins rode for the French professional road Cycling Team Crédit Agricole , and rode in the 2005 Giro D'Italia . In the New Year's Honours List published 31 December 2004 he was created an OBE for services to Sport . ACCOMPLISHMENTS Olympic Medals
