Information About

Brad Rutter

Brad Rutter (born 1977 or 1978 ) is a contestant on the Syndicated Game Show '' Jeopardy! ''. As of the end of 2005 , he has won more money on game shows than any other person in history.

Rutter became an undefeated five-time champion in 2000 and has since won an unprecendented three ''Jeopardy!'' tournament titles: the 2001 Tournament of Champions, the Million Dollar Masters Tournament, and the Ultimate Tournament of Champions. On May 25 , 2005 , Rutter decisively defeated Ken Jennings and Jerome Vered in the final round of the Jeopardy! Ultimate Tournament Of Champions , becoming ''Jeopardy!'''s biggest money winner to date with a total earnings of $3,255,102.

In twenty games, Rutter has never lost a full match of Jeopardy, though he has trailed at the end of individual games of two-day matches three times (against Rick Knutsen in the first game of the Finals of the 2001 Tournament of Champions, against Eric Newhouse in the second game of the Finals of the Million Dollar Masters tournament, and against John Cuthbertson in the first game of the Semifinals of the Ultimate Tournament of Champions). Rutter ultimately won all three of those matches with a higher two-day cumulative score. Given his unmatched records and crushing victories over otherwise very successful ''Jeopardy!'' champions (such as Jennings , Vered , Newhouse, Bob Verini, Doug Lach, Tad Carithers, John Beck, and Chris Miller), Rutter has an extremely strong claim to being the greatest ''Jeopardy!'' player of the Trebek era.

Rutter currently lives in students. As of 2005 , ''InQuizitive'' is in its second season and covers the central Pennsylvania media outlet. At the 2005 Manheim Township graduation ceremony he announced that he was starting a scholarship fund in memory of his late High School Quiz Bowl coach.

Rutter is self-effacing, describing himself as a "slacker" in high school, as the son of a stockbroker and a housewife, and as a college dropout from from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , where he studied English and History . Until his success on Jeopardy, he worked at the Lancaster Coconuts Record Store .
