Boston Hardcore

First generation Boston hardcore bands included SS Decontrol , Gang Green , Jerry's Kids , The F.U.'s , Last Rites , DYS , Impact Unit and, though not really "hardcore", Mission Of Burma .
The Boston scene is know for it's ferociously loyal fanbase, and it's notorious hostility towards "outsiders".

A group affiliated with SS Decontrol called " The Boston Crew " was a militant Straight Edge group that was borderline violent in expressing their disgust with excess. This hard-line attitude became a defining characteristic for later bands such as Slapshot , Wrecking Crew , Eye For An Eye , Ten Yard Fight , Converge , American Nightmare/ Give Up The Ghost and Blood For Blood .

The highlight of the early New England hardcore era was the '' This Is Boston, Not L.A. '' LP, which was a compilation of local artists.

Boston remains a hotspot for hardcore and related musical genres. Boston-area artists include Cave In , Converge , Isis (now based in Los Angeles ), The Hope Conspiracy , Bane ( Worcester ), and Doomriders .
