The book ends with an extremely epic war in which over 1,000,000 people were killed. The battle destroyed the Jaredite nation. The prophet Ether warned Coriantumr, the last king of the Jaredite nation, that if he did not obey the Lord, he would have to live to see his nation die. Coriantumr, unfortunately, saw every last Jaredite die. On the last day of the war, only Coriantumr and Shiz, a general on the opposite side of the war, remained. Coriantumr smote of Shiz's head and therefore became the last Jaredite. After wandering around the Americas for many years, he was discovered by the people of Zarahemla. The people of Zarahemla also discovered a large stone containing a brief history of Coriantumr's people that Mosiah was able to translate (Omni 1:20-22). This book was translated and abridged by Moroni and included in the plates from which the ''Book of Mormon'' was translated. This book is from an earlier set of twenty-four plates discovered by the people of Limhi during the time of King Mosiah (father of King Benjamin ) (Mosiah 8:9 and Ether 1:2).
