Information About

Bob Slayer

His early career was as a National Hunt Jockey in the early 70's where he rode 137 winners.
He also suffered two broken collar bones, crushed vertebrae and concussion on several occasions, it is also rumoured that after one fall where he got kicked by a horse he received 28 stitches in his penis.

Out of the racing season he took jobs travelling with bands in any capacity possible.
In 1972 he toured with Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention. He was at the gig in Montreux at the time of the infamous fire that inspired Deep Purple 's Smoke on The Water. He was arrested as a suspect in the shooting of the flare gun that caused the fire and although he was released without charge he did not re join the rest of the Frank Zappa tour.

In 1976 he was forced to quit racing due to his increasing weight. He was looking for permanent employment when a girlfriend introduced him to Richard Cole, the long time tour manager for Led Zeppelin . He joined Zeppelin as roadie shortly afterwards.

In 1979 he was involved in a tragic tour bus accident in Japan and it is largely thought that he remained in Japan living as a recluse in the countryside.

In 1999 a news article made it into Rolling Stone Magazine that former led Zeppelin roadie Bob Slayer had become the first westerner to be crowned Karaoke champion of Japan . Shortly afterwards he met and befriended the up and coming Japanese rock trio Electric Eel Shock and he has been touring the world with them in various capacities ever since.

In 2004 Bob Slayer became assistant to Frank Suicide in running the Suicide Motel a DIY band hostel in Utrecht Holland. In the same year he founded the Electric Eel Shock Samurai 100.
