Blackwood is a Census-designated Place and Unincorporated area located within Gloucester Township , in Camden County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the section had a total population of 4,692.


GEOGRAPHY

Blackwood is located at 39°47'46" North, 75°3'44" West (39.795981, -75.062304).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the section has a total area of 3.2 Km&2 (1.2 Mi&2 ). 3.2 km&2 (1.2 mi&2) of it is land and 0.80% is water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 4,692 people, 1,721 households, and 1,261 families residing in the section. The Population Density was 1,461.0/km&2 (3,782.1/mi&2). There were 1,840 housing units at an average density of 572.9/km&2 (1,483.2/mi&2). The racial makeup of the section was 91.30% White , 3.94% African American , 0.11% Native American , 2.11% Asian , 0.06% Pacific Islander , 1.19% from Other Races , and 1.28% from two or more races. 3.15% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,721 households out of which 32.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% were Married Couples living together, 12.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.7% were non-families. 22.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.16.

In the section the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 years of age or older.
