Bitterroot Mountains




Trapper Peak is one of the highest peaks in the range.

The range is named after the Bitterroot , a small pink flower that is the State Flower of Montana.

It neighbors the Bitterroot Valley and Bitterroot River . It gave its name to the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area and Bitterroot National Forest .

In 1803, the Corps of Discovery, led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, crossed the Bitterroot Range. They were led by a Shoshone Indian man by the name of Old Toby. {Link without Title}
