Following a career in the insurance industry, he represented the City Of Glasgow as a councillor between 1976 and 1999 and entered the Scottish Parliament at the election in May 1999. He is also a Justice Of The Peace and a Deputy Lieutenant of the City Of Glasgow . He is currently the Chief Whip for the Scottish Conservative Party in Holyrood . EXTERNAL LINK
