GEOGRAPHY Big Lake is located at 40°4'24" North, 95°21'3" West (40.073443, -95.350863). According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 6.9 Km&2 (2.7 Mi&2 ). 4.4 km&2 (1.7 mi&2) of it is land and 2.5 km&2 (1.0 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 36.23% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 127 people, 60 households, and 37 families residing in the village. The Population Density was 29.0/km&2 (75.0/mi&2). There were 376 housing units at an average density of 85.9/km&2 (222.0/mi&2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.43% White , 0.00% African American , 0.79% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.79% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 60 households out of which 10.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% were Married Couples living together, 5.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.7% were non-families. 33.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.45. In the village the population was spread out with 18.9% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 15.0% from 25 to 44, 39.4% from 45 to 64, and 22.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 53 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.0 males. The median income for a household in the village was $29,583, and the median income for a family was $40,417. Males had a median income of $31,806 versus $21,250 for females.
