Information About

Between The Buried And Me

Between the Buried and Me is a Progressive Mathcore / Metalcore quintet from Winston-Salem, North Carolina whose music also displays significant influence from Soft Rock and Jazz . Their name is derived from a section of lyrics in Counting Crows ’ song "Ghost Train," which proceed as follows: "Took the cannonball down to the ocean/Across the desert from the sea to shining sea/I rode a ladder that climbed across the nation/Fifty million feet of earth '''between the buried and me'''."

BIOGRAPHY

"Between The Buried And Me incorporate metal and hardcore with spacey, progressive technicality and poignant rock melodies to create dizzying opuses that will redefine pre-existing notions of ' Metalcore '".

The band was founded in early 2000 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina by vocalist Tommy Giles Rogers Jr. (From Here On, Undying, Prayer For Cleansing ), guitarist Paul Waggoner ( Prayer For Cleansing ), drummer Will Goodyear (Voids, Prayer For Cleansing ), guitarist Nick Fletcher (Azazel), and bassist Jason King (Azazel). Currently, the band contains two members from fellow North Carolina band Glass Casket , Dustie Waring on guitar and Blake Richardson on drums. This has caused some to question the future of Glass Casket , although neither member of that band says that Glass Casket will break up anytime soon, as other members of that band are currently busy with college and jobs.

The band plan to release a CD consisting entirely of covers, with the name 'The Anatomy Of..' on June 13, 2006. The expected tracklisting is:

  • Pantera - "Cemetery Gates"

  • Sepultura - "Territory"

  • Soundgarden - "The Day I Tried to Live"

  • Mötley Crüe - "Kickstart My Heart"

  • Pink Floyd - "Us and Them"

  • Queen - "Bicycle Race"

  • Metallica - "Blackened"

  • Metallica - "Orion"

  • Faith No More - "Malpractice"

  • Doors - "People Are Strange"

  • Depeche Mode - "Little 15"

  • Smashing Pumpkins - "Geek U.S.A."

  • Blind Melon - "Change"

SIDE PROJECTS

  • Tommy Giles Rogers Jr has his own CD "Giles" which is his own way of venting his techno creativity. He wanted to take a break from the hardcore/metalcore scene because he claims it was too serious and he needed to make something a little less serious. It sounds nothing like "Between the Buried and Me"s CDs. Tommy also uses his high pitched voice alot in this CD, but no screams.

  • Dusty Waring and Blake Richardson are also in a metalcore band called Glass Casket .
