Born in Beckenham , Kent her first film, as associate producer, was ''The Years Between'' (1946) but by 1948 , when she produced '' Miranda '' for Gainsborough Pictures she had already gained her reputation.

She was also famous for the series of ''Huggetts'' films, starting with ''Here Come the Huggetts'' in 1948 and followed up by ''Vote for Huggett'' and ''The Huggetts Abroad'' in 1949 , and also for the ''Doctor'' series starring Dirk Bogarde . This series started with '' Doctor In The House '' in 1954 , continuing with '' Doctor At Large '' ( 1957 ), '' Doctor In Love '' ( 1960 ), '' Doctor In Distress '' ( 1963 ), '' Doctor In Clover '' ( 1966 ) and '' Doctor In Trouble '' in 1970 .

Amongst her other films were the 1959 version of '' The 39 Steps '' and 1971 's '' Percy '' and its sequel ''Percy's Progress'' in 1974 .

Betty was married to Carry On producer Peter Rogers .
