Believe... There's Magic In The Stars

In 2005 , ''Believe...'' was replaced by '' Remember... Dreams Come True '' for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary celebration.

BELIEVE...THERE'S MAGIC IN THE STARS

The main musical theme of the show is the song "Believe...There's Magic In The Stars"; this theme is interwoven throughout the entire show. Most of the song is sung in a single woman's voice.

Lyrics

Because the song appears at the beginning of various segments throughout the show, different lyrics are sung in order to introduce the theme of that particular segment:
  • Opening

  • The stars are out where dreams are born

And fairytales come true.

No matter who you are,

There's magic in the stars

Reaching out to you.

Chorus:

There's magic in the stars,

Magic everywhere you look,

Like pages from a story book.

The dream come true is ours.

There's magic in the stars,

Where all your dreams come true.

Makin' memories, sharin' dreams,

Watchin' time go by.

Each enchanted day,

Your heart will sail away

To castles in the sky.

  • Joy and Laughter

  • Joy and laughter in the night

Can bring a smile or two.

Believe it deep inside,

It's a magic carpet ride,

Where fun awaits for you.

  • In The Darkest Night

  • Even in the darkest night,

Strange things can happen here.

Even in the dark,

The dreamer holds the spark

That brings adventure near.

  • Believe

  • Close your eyes and make a wish,

It's easy from the start.

Open up your mind,

It's fantasy you'll find

Deep within your heart.

  • Fanfare

  • ''(Children)''

Take a chance if you believe,

And wish upon a star.

We made a world that sees

Where all your dreams come true

No matter where you are.

''(Chorus)''

''(Adults and Children)''

There's magic in the stars,

Magic everywhere you look,

Like pages from a story book.

So find the child in you.

Believe that dreams come true

With magic in the stars!

Magic in the stars!

THE SHOW

The show, like any other Disneyland fireworks show, utilizes musical themes from various Disney movies. Those themes help to illustrate the message of the show, which is just to believe in magic. The show is broken up into various segments, each of which are introduced with the "Believe..." theme song.

Opening

The show begins with a woman's voice gently whispering the word "believe", the show's main theme. A child's voice is heard wishing that he "would never have to leave this magical place", otherwise known as Disneyland. He then wishes on a star for his wish, and the ''Believe'' musical theme begins.

BELIEVE... IN HOLIDAY MAGIC

''Believe...'' was so successful in its first couple of months that the Disney Entertainment company premiered a holiday version for the Christmas season in 2000 . This version fused together music from various classic Christmas songs in order to create a thirteen minute fireworks spectacular. The holiday version was very popular, especially the finale which culminated in "snow" falling on Main Street, USA .

Opening

The show begins with an elderly woman encouraging everyone to remember and believe in holiday magic:

"Does your heart hold the magic of the holidays? Is it filled with warm memories just waiting to be discovered again? Well now is the time to open your heart, believe in that magic, and remember those treasured moments...oh, they're still there, deep within you, waiting to touch you once more. So come along as the magic of the seasons leads the way."

Can You Remember

The song "Can You Remember" immediately begins after the elderly woman finishes her speech:

Can you remember

How Christmas makes you feel?

That special magic in the air,

And all your dreams are real.

Can you remember

The smell of gingerbread?

Candy canes and sugar plums

Dance inside your head.

Remember when the twinkling stars at night

Told you reindeer were in flight,

And jolly Santa Claus was on his way?

The warmth of candle glow,

A kiss of mistletoe,

The magic lives when we believe.

It's in our hearts to stay.

Chorus:

Remember the caring,

A season worth sharing.

Believe in the magic in our lives

Just open up your heart,

And relive the feeling.

Just remember the magic,

Yes remember the magic

One more time.

Holiday Music

The show uses many well-known musical themes from various Christmas carols:
  • March of the Wooden Soldiers

  • Toyland, Toyland

  • The Driedle Song

  • All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth

  • I'll Be Home For Christmas
