Beaverhead County is the largest County by area in the State of Montana . As of 2000 , the population is 9,202. Its County Seat is Dillon 6 . GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 14,432 Km&2 (5,572 Mi&2 ). 14,355 km&2 (5,542 mi&2) of it is land and 77 km&2 (30 mi&2) of it is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 9,202 people, 3,684 households, and 2,354 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 1/km&2 (2/mi&2). There were 4,571 housing units at an average density of 0/km&2 (1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 95.86% White , 0.18% Black or African American , 1.46% Native American , 0.18% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 1.09% from Other Races , and 1.18% from two or more races. 2.67% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 3,684 households out of which 30.10% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.80% were Married Couples living together, 6.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 36.10% were non-families. 29.70% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.00% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.36 and the average family size was 2.95. In the county the population was spread out with 24.60% under the age of 18, 11.90% from 18 to 24, 25.10% from 25 to 44, 24.90% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 105.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.50 males. The median income for a household in the county was $28,962, and the median income for a family was $38,971. Males had a median income of $26,162 versus $18,115 for females.
