beautiful. is the third album from Fantastic Plastic Machine . It is the follow-up to '' Luxury '', as well as the first album after moving from Readymade Records to Avex Trax . ''beautiful.'' is generally regarded as one of his most critical works, signaling a maturation from his previous Shibuya-kei style to a rich blend of House Music and '70s Philly Soul . The album took eight months to produce, taking Tanaka to such places as the legendary Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia and New York City 's Quad Studios . While at Quad Studios , Tanaka recorded songs with Hirth Martinez and Jazz Singer Bob Dorough . TRIVIA The Japanese cover of the album was replaced in the U.S. and Europe with a different cover. The front cover depicts a maze in the shape of a Butterfly , while the back cover shows a maze in the shape of a picture of Tanaka himself. A shortened version of "Beautiful Days" later appeared in Konami 's Bemani game Beatmania IIDX 6th Style .
