Beach Haven is a Walsh Act Borough located in Ocean County , New Jersey , in the United States . As of the 2000 Census , the borough had a total population of 1,278. GEOGRAPHY Beach Haven is located at 39°33'41" North, 74°14'26" West (39.561296, -74.240424). According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 6.0 Km&2 (2.3 Mi&2 ). 2.5 km&2 (1.0 mi&2) of it is land and 3.5 km&2 (1.3 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 57.76% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 1,278 people, 586 households, and 346 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 503.5/km&2 (1,301.8/mi&2). There were 2,555 housing units at an average density of 1,006.6/km&2 (2,602.6/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.83% White , 0.08% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.55% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.08% from Other Races , and 0.47% from two or more races. 4.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 586 households out of which 18.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% were Married Couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 40.8% were non-families. 35.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 19.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.17 and the average family size was 2.80. In the borough the population was spread out with 17.1% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 28.1% from 45 to 64, and 27.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 87.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.4 males. The median income for a household in the borough was $48,355, and the median income for a family was $68,036. Males had a median income of $39,444 versus $29,688 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $30,267. 3.7% of the population and 1.2% of families were below the Poverty Line . 3.3% of those under the age of 18 and 1.9% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. GOVERNMENT Federal, state and county representation Beach Haven is in the Third Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 9th Legislative District. EDUCATION For grades K through 6, students attend the Beach Haven Elementary School, which serves 88 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. For grades 7 through 12, students attend the Southern Regional Middle School (grades 7 and 8) and Southern Regional High School (grades 9 - 12). These schools are part of the Southern Regional School District , which serves the five municipalities in the Long Beach Island Consolidated School District, along with students from Beach Haven and Stafford Township , along with the sending districts of Barnegat Township (grades 9 - 12 only) and Ocean Township .
