The United States team of College Baseball players, including eight future major league players and coached by Rod Dedeaux , defeated a Japanese amateur all-star team in Tokyo , 6-2. The American future major leaguers included pitchers Alan Closter , Dick Joyce , and Chuck Dopson ; catchers Jim Hibbs and Ken Suarez ; outfielder Shaun Fitzmaurice ; first baseman Mike Epstein ; and second baseman Gary Sutherland .
