The club's home ground is Leichhardt Oval, in Sydney's inner west. In 2000 , as a result of pressure from the NRL , Balmain merged with the Western Suburbs Magpies to form the Wests Tigers . Balmain's last premiership victory came in 1969 when they defeated the heavily favoured South Sydney Rabbitohs 11-2. The last grand final Balmain appeared in was the 1989 loss to the Canberra Raiders in which they had a lead of 12-2 at halftime. By the end of the second half Canberra managed to level the score and won the game in extra time. This was a shattering loss for the Tigers after having lost the previous grand final to the Canterbury Bulldogs . PLAYERS OF NOTE
