This is also the home of the Ballard Maritime Academy, a three-year course of study that is considered to be a pathway into the maritime industry. This program is sponsored by the Youth Maritime Training Association http://ymta.net/ a non-profit organization with goals of bringing the sea to the classroom for students in elementary, middle and high school.
