is a worn
Lunar Crater that lies on the
Far Side of the
Moon , beyond the eastern limb. It lies astride the southern rim of the
Pasteur Walled-plain , to the west of
Hilbert Crater . Further to the west-southwest is the
Sklodowska Crater . The north and south ends of the Backlund crater are more worn and eroded than the intervening stretches. The interior floor is relatively flat, with the usual accompaniment of tiny impact craters marking the surface.
By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater mid-point that is closest to Backlund crater.
