The ubiquitin-proteasome pathway has a critical role in maintaining the homeostasis of cells and is believed to be involved in the development and progression of diseases such as:

Born in Karcag , Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county, Hungary , he received his M.D. in 1965 and his Ph.D in 1969 from the Hadassah Faculty Of Medicine of Hebrew University in Jerusalem . He is currently a Distinguished Professor at the Rappaport Family Institute for Research in Medical Sciences at the Technion (Israel Institutite of Technology) in Haifa and Adjunct Professor of Pathology at New York University .
