GEOGRAPHY Aventura is located at (25.964345, -80.135818). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 9.1 Km&2 (3.5 Mi&2 ). 7.0 km&2 (2.7 mi&2) of it is land and 2.1 km&2 (0.8 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 23.08% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 25,267 people, 14,000 households, and 6,691 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 3,613.2/km&2 (9,344.7/mi&2). There were 20,020 housing units at an average density of 2,862.9/km&2 (7,404.2/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 93.78% White , 1.70% African American , 0.07% Native American , 1.22% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 1.45% from Other Races , and 1.77% from two or more races. 20.65% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 14,000 households out of which 11.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.6% were Married Couples living together, 6.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 52.2% were non-families. 45.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 23.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 1.79 and the average family size was 2.45. In the city the population was spread out with 10.1% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 35.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 53 years. For every 100 females there were 80.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.9 males. The median income for a household in the city was $44,526, and the median income for a family was $59,507. Males had a median income of $50,791 versus $37,682 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $41,092. 9.1% of the population and 5.6% of families were below the Poverty Line . 8.5% of those under the age of 18 and 8.5% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
