The Autobots (also known as '''Cybertrons''' in Japan) are the Heroes in the '' Transformers Toyline '' and related spin-off Comics and Cartoons . Their main leader is Optimus Prime , but other "Prime's" have also commanded the Autobots like Rodimus Prime and Sentinel Prime . They are constantly at war with the Decepticon s. In the U.S. cartoon line, they were the descendants of a line of robots created as consumer goods by the Quintessons . They, along with the Decepticons , were created by the god Primus to defend the universe from the evil Unicron . The ''Prime'' title is in honor of Primus. The Autobot symbol is referred to as an "Autobrand" in issue 14 of the Marvel comics series. Note: The Maximals are also known as Cybertrons in Japan, but in the US they are two different groups.
