''Auto Modellista'' is a Racing Game developed and published by Capcom , first released on Sony PlayStation 2 , and subsequently, on Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Xbox . It marked itself apart from other games of the same genre with Cel-shaded Graphics , which made them look as though they were hand-drawn and cartoon-like. As this was its selling point, which developers had experience in within, what the game suffered from was a poor handling dynamics due to lack of experience in the genre, this novelty game turned out to be a critical and commercial failure. In 2003 to address the problems cited by the Japanese and European PS2 versions, Capcom reworked the game and added some US cars initially for the US market, titled as '''Auto Modellista US Tuned''', this could sway US buyers into buying the game as it still suffered the same handling dynamics that haunted the game. The US Tuned edition would be ported as a Gamecube and XBox game, the latter was due for release in Europe on April 2004 when distributors pulled the game out of release knowing sales of the game were going to be poor. GAMEPLAY ''Auto Modellista'' attempts to be a very technical racing game, with an immense amount of avalible parts and settings for the selection of cars provided to the player. Such options available are tuning, which allows the player to set more and specific commands for the car and ''Garage mode'', which is the heart of customization. In the garage mode, the player is granted the ability to select one of four tire types which affects road grip and in regards to the weather occurring on the race track (for example, the "Semi-Slick Tires" provide maximum speed and grip in dry weather, but suffer in rain). Other options include brakes (which determines braking efficiency), suspension (), Turbines, Mufflers, Computer (determines the cars ability to accept upgrades later in the game), the engine, "Final Gear", and Weight Reduction. All these aspects contribute to a working and efficient car, but no individual option will drastically change a car's driving ability. Auto Modellista is also a very appearance driven game, with the ability to create many different color combinations, change and switch hoods and ornaments, and create license plates.
