The were a professional
Baseball team that played in the
Negro Leagues . They were a founding member of the
Eastern Colored League (ECL) in
1923 . The Bacharachs won league championships in 1926 and 1927, losing the
Negro League World Series to the
Chicago American Giants both years. When the ECL failed early in 1928, the Bacharachs continued to play as an independent team, and joined the
American Negro League for 1929.
Among the best players to wear the Bacharachs' uniform were shortstop ,
Nip Winters ,
Arthur "Rats" Henderson ,
Luther Farrell , and
Claude Grier were among the many talented hurlers to take the mound in Atlantic City. The latter two tossed no-hitters in the Negro League World Series, the only pitchers to do so.
