Arabesque-pop music is a collection of music by a variety of musicians from Algeria , Egypt , Iran and Turkey as well as some western artists inspired by Middle Eastern Music . The album is compiled by Mourad Mazouz , also known as "Momo", owner and promoter of restaurants and nightclubs in London and Paris . The album fuses Eastern instruments such as the tabla and the flute (or Zorna and Mijwiz ) with chants and western dubby beats. Tracks include traditional and contemporary singers and a remix of the decade old Damane El Harrachi's song. Natacha Atlas made her name as the lead singer of Transglobal Underground, a London based techno funk group whose samples of Arabic music helped to bring it to a wider audience. Stereo MC's, another London band who have been off the scene for a while also appear on the album. Their track is remixed by Steve Hillage who has been involved with the Orb, System 7 and Rachid Taha . Other contributors include Tranquility Bass and MC Sultan , incorporating oriental vocals into what has been describe as a spicy, dense techno sound. Performers
