Andreas Dittmer




Andreas Dittmer (born 16 April 1972 in Neustrelitz ) is an athlete from Germany who competes in Flatwater Canoeing . He has won three Olympic and eight world championship gold medals.

Dittmer won his first Olympic gold at the 1996 Olympics in the C-2 1000m. After Atlanta, he concentrated on the individual event and won his first C-1 world title in 1997. At Sydney 2000 he won the C-1 1000m gold but had to settle for the bronze in the 500m race.

In the 1000 metre, Dittmer again won his initial heat to advance to the finals. This time, however, Cal finished .52 seconds ahead of Dittmer's 3:46.721, leaving Dittmer with a silver medal.

Dittmer's sister, Anja Dittmer , also competed at the 2004 Olympics. She is a Triathlete .

At the 2005 Flatwater Racing World Championships , held in Zagreb , he won his fourth consecutive C-1 1000m gold. He also won the C-1 500m, thereby completing his second ''double''.
