Amersham station is a London Underground station in Travelcard Zone D on the Metropolitan line. It is the Terminus of the Metropolitan Line, and is not actually in Greater London ; rather, it is in the county of Buckinghamshire . It is situated 23.7 miles (38.1 km) north west of Charing Cross and is the most westerly station on the whole London Underground system. Amersham Station is served also by Chiltern Railways , which runs trains from London Marylebone station through to Aylesbury . From Aylesbury a shuttle service to Princes Risborough provides access to through services between Marylebone and Birmingham Snow Hill . The journey to Central London is 45–60 minutes. Amersham was opened 1 September 1892 part of the Metropolitan Railway extension to Aylesbury. On 12 March 1922 its name was changed to "Amersham & Chesham Bois" but reverted to the original name during 1934 . It is located on Station Approach, Amersham . GALLERY |
