American Hi-Fi is a '', in early 2005 . The meaning of the band's name is American High Fidelity, meaning it is the closest type of music to describe the American style of life.

During tours in 2004 and 2005, they opened for Butch Walker and also served as his backing band. The tour was titled "Clash of the Heavyweights".Since early spring of 2005, they have been on tour with Bowling For Soup , Riddlin' Kids and MC Lars .

The band's original name was BMX Girl, until Bob Rock , the producer of American Hi-Fi insisted they change their band's name because it "sucked".
