Allegiant Air is an Airline headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada , USA . It operates scheduled services and charter flights. The airline, through its Allegiant Vacations affiliate, also provides complete vacation packages. 34 hotel properties are featured in Las Vegas and 21 in the Orlando and Daytona Beach areas. The vacations division also has partnerships with rental car agencies and show-ticket vendors.

A number of Allegiant destinations are secondary airports that are closer to a large metropolitan area. Some, however, are small markets with little or no airline service other than Allegiant.


HISTORY


Allegiant Air was founded in 1997, with the name WestJet Express and adopted the present name in 1999 , and started operations in 1998 . Allegiant air is certificated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) as a “Scheduled Air Carrier” with authority to fly scheduled and charter airline operations throughout the U.S. The Company also has authority for charter service to Canada and Mexico.

The Company currently operates a fleet of 21 aircraft including 2 MD-87's and 19 MD-83's. Aircraft in the Company’s fleet were selected based on their operating characteristics, reliability and suitability for the airline’s scheduled and charter flight operations including range and passenger capacity. CHARTER INFO


Allegiant currently has two contracts for track programs with Harrah's Entertainment , a major gaming company. One contract is to provide an aircraft in Laughlin, Nevada for charter flights to over 125 different cities across the U.S. and the other is to provide an aircraft in Reno, Nevada to various U.S. cities. In addition to the track programs, Allegiant markets its charter services to a variety of customers including university athletic teams, corporations, governments and other customers that need "on demand" charter services.
