AeroLitoral is a Regional Airline based in Guadalajara , Mexico . It operates feeder services to Aeroméxico 's hub airports, using only Aeroméxico flight numbers. It is considered the biggest and most important regional airline in Mexico , offering more than 230 scheduled flights daily to 37 destinations in Mexico and the United States . Its main base are in Don Miguel Hidalgo Y Costilla International Airport in Guadalajara, General Mariano Escobedo International Airport in Monterrey and Roberto Fierro Villalobos International Airport in Chihuahua.

HISTORY

The airline was formed as Servicios Aereos Litoral and became a subsidiary of Aeroméxico on 1 December 1990 . It started with a fleet of 4 NAMC YS-11 aircraft IN 1988 (XA-ROL, XA-ROV, XA-RPU and XA-RRG)with some pilots from the bankrupt Aeromexico his later and actual parent Airline it was originally based in Veracruz . In February 1992 Aeroméxico started another regional feeder airline, Aerovias de Poniente, S.A. de C.V. in Guadalajara using Fairchild Metro s.

The fleet was replaced quite fast between 1991 and 1995 and grew to a total of 29 Fairchild Metro III and 23 series aircraft. The main base was moved to Monterrey and two more bases were made, one in Culiacán that lasted just 3 months and moved to Chihuahua from 1993 to December 2002 . AeroPoniente operated from the base in Guadalajara originally with Fairchild Metro's, but was closed in December 2001 and reopened in June 2003 with Saab 340B aircraft, in 2006 it's expected to switch to ERJ-145's.

The two companies slowly began to merge, albeit they were using the same paint scheme and finally in 1997 were merged as Aerolitoral S.A de C.V, which wears the same logo as his parent airline Aeroméxico. Aerolitoral is owned by Consorcio Aeroméxico.

In late 2006 the Aerolitoral fleet plans reflect 9 Saab 340B , 20 ERJ-145's and the first 2 brand new Embraer ERJ-190 for 2007 .
