Information AboutAeon Calcos |
Aeon Calcos (リザードマン ''Rizādoman'') is a Fictional character designed for the '''''Soul'' Series''' of Fighting Games . Commonly known as '''Lizardman''', he made his first appearance in '' Soul Calibur '' and has returned for '' Soul Calibur III ''. Another Lizardman, who was not Aeon Calcos, appeared in North American and European console ports of '' Soul Calibur II ''. BIOGRAPHY The Spartan Soldier , Aeon Calcos, like Sophitia Alexandra , was one of the twenty-four warriors to receive an oracle from the god Hephaestus to destroy Soul Edge --one for every letter of the Greek Alphabet . And he was armed with the holy Xi Sword forged for him. In his searches, a group of desert travelers rescued a dehydrated Aeon and brought him to their village. Unfortunately, he was unable to repay their kindness, as the Evil Seed had rained down and turned Aeon into a crazed killer, causing him to massacre everyone in the village. Stories of this Berserker spread to Kunpaetku, the grand priest of the cult order Fygul Cestemus. Kunpaetku ordered that Aeon be captured and used as a human guinea pig in a terrible experiment, causing him to transform into a lizard man--the first of many lizard men to come. Obedient to his new master, Aeon was sent to the New World , ordered to kidnap the "White Giant" Rock's adopted son, Bangoo, and lure him back to Europe so that his soul could be stolen. Sometime while aiding the Golem also created by Fygul Cestemus, Astaroth , in stealing the Soul Edge from the azure Knight , Nightmare , Aeon was eventually tracked down and defeated by Rock for the kidnapping. In Soul Calibur III , Lizardman awakes from some sort of sleep, apparently free of the cult that controlled him, but still in his lizard form, Lizardman returned to Greece. Realizing that his family that had waited so long for him to come home would not recognize him, Lizardman fell into despair. He returned to the temple that made him to find a cure and found it destroyed. With his last glimmer of hope gone, he wondered angrily why Hephaestus had not helped him in his time of need. "My god has forsaken me." thought Lizardman. He cast away the sword and shield he was given, and resolved to find Soul Edge and destroy the god of the forge with the very weapon he feared most. It would be the ultimate revenge. WEAPONS -- Xi Sword and Game Shield The short sword and small shield Lizardman uses in SC. They were handed to him before his transformation in Lizardman by Hephaesthus. Aeon received the oracle to destroy Soul Edge along these sacred weapons, made by the god himself. Although both weapons were sacred originally, its remains to be seen if they retain their holy power, given Aeon's fate. (Note: Sophitia in SC2 can use this weapon, and in the Weapon Gallery it states the set does keep his holy propieties, but it also says that the sword and shield holds a curse, so the weapons are very unstable.) -- Grudge Axe & Aya Shield The handaxe and shield Lizardman uses in SC3. After his faith in his gods faded with his last glimpse of hope, he cast aside the original divine weapons he once wielded and changed it for this set. Nothing is known about it. STAGES -- Kunpaetku Shrine (SC) When Kunpaetku was promoted to grand priest, he schemed to create a troop of grotesque creatures within the dark order who were loyal only to him. He also built a shrine that mirrored the design of Palgaea Shrine. However, in contrast to the hellish heat of Palgaea Shrine, poisonous fumes filled this place instead. Strange, ominous light also filled the recesses of the shrine, generated by the mysterious pools of glowing liquid that produced the poisonous gasses. Though highly toxic to humans, perhaps the environment was intended for the grotesque abominations of nature that dwell here. -- Silk Road Ruin (SC3) The south path through the western countries is one of the steepest parts of the Silk Road. Near the entrance on the west side lies an especially eye-catching ruin that serves as a landmark to travelers. It is said that the building was build by a wealthy merchant during the time when this region was still the centermost route along the Silk Road. In everything from the patterns on the pillars to the decorations on the walls to the materials used in the floors, one can see the mix of Eastern and Western culture typical of a Silk Road ruin. But now, a dangerous person hides out here... no... this man has long since given up his humanity. For the sake of his objective, he patiently awaits the arrival of travelers who may hold the clues he seems. CHARACTER ANALYSIS In '' Soul Calibur '', the original Lizardman of the Dreamcast version was an extremely versatile character, capable of an offensive free-flowing offensive striking game. Although Aeon has changed his weapon of choice from a sword to an axe, he still carries the shield which should be the foundation of his technique. Originally his shield would deliver a stun effect on counter-hit when a backhand attack is used and an evasive knockdown attack if a hook is used - this indirect way of attack, the ability to lead your opponent into traps has been completely removed in Soul Calibur III making his offensive game very linear. In '' Soul Calibur III '', Lizardman does not appear to be able to cope with the strong characters of the game (e.g Sophitia, Xianghua, etc). Many say that he is far too linear a character to be considered any higher than low- Tier . What could have contributed to his poor tier ranking is the fact that his moveset was almost completely changed due to his new weapon, and hasn't had the time for more varied attacks to be added yet.
