Information AboutA Game Of Thrones (board Game) |
|
The game is based on the A Song Of Ice And Fire fantasy series by George R. R. Martin . The board game and its expansion loosely mirror the events of the first two books in the series, '' A Game Of Thrones '' and '' A Clash Of Kings ''. In 2004 ''A Game of Thrones'' won the Origins Award for ''Best Traditional Board Game of 2003''. A second expansion set, "A Storm of Swords" arrives June 2006. GAME PLAY Wars in the game are resolved quickly, usually within two or three hours. Placing Orders Instead of players deciding what their troops will do in advance, they place orders for a general theme of what their forces can do in a turn. From there, all forces reveal their orders at once. It requires a degree of anticipation of the enemies movements and strategy, and limits the ability to react. Deterministic Battle Battles between armies are resolved in a deterministic fashion, not by the roll of dice. An element of randomness is involved, in drawing leader cards to augment the army's strength, but the values of the cards are known before entering battle, and all the Houses have equivalent value cards.
