In Division I-A College Football , which does not hold a tournament to determine its Champion , the leading vote-getter in the final AP Poll is widely considered a national champion for that season. For the first several years of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS), the AP Poll was one of the factors in determining the BCS rankings. However, in 2004, it was removed as a factor after the AP demanded that its poll no longer be used in the BCS rankings. In Division I College Basketball , the AP Poll is largely just a tool to compare schools throughout the season and to spark debate, as it has no bearing on postseason play. EXTERNAL LINKS |
