AFFILIATED LEAGUES

The premier league in Queensland is a two division Australian rules competition, Queensland State League (QSL) operating out of South East Queensland .
Other regional leagues include:


LOCATION

The league's offices are currently based at Lions Football Park (also known as Giffin Park), Coorparoo, and this is where most finals matches have been played from 1998. However, the AFLQ State League Grand Final was once again played at the Gabba in 2005, marking the centenary of the first Grand Final played at the ground when City defeated Valley in 1905.


PREVIOUS AUSTRALIAN RULES GOVERNING BODIES IN QUEENSLAND

  • Queensland Football League (QFL), later Queensland Australian National Football League (QANFL) and Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL) (1903 - 1996)

  • Queensland Australian Football Council (1997 - 1999) which oversaw the Queensland State Football League (QSFL)



GROGAN MEDAL

The Grogan Medal is awarded to the best and fairest in home and away rounds of each season's competition.
The medal has been awarded since 1946.


QUEENSLAND TEAM OF THE CENTURY

On 16 June 2003 , the Queensland Team of the Century was announced at a gala function staged by AFLQ at the Brisbane Convention Centre .
