This article is about the band; for the body temperature, see 98.6 . BIOGRAPHY 98 Degrees was an and Drew Lachey , as well as Justin Jeffre and Jeff Timmons . They are considered as the "Caucasian Boyz II Men" The group was formed in Los Angeles , but its members are all from Ohio . Unlike most boy bands, they formed independently and were later picked up by a label, as opposed to being assembled by the label itself. From that point on, they reached a celebrity statun non of them thought they were going to reach. In 2002 the group decided to take a break to fulfill other ambitions and opportunities. Drew Lachey has stated on their website that 98 Degrees is not broken up, they are just on an extended hiatus. Since then, Nick Lachey was married singer Jessica Simpson and is about to release his second solo album. Drew Lachey and his wife gave birth to their first daughter shortly after he won the second season of Dancing With The Stars . Jeff Timmons is about to release a second solo album in July 2006. Justin Jeffre ran for mayor of Cincinnati. THE MUSIC The group was originally signed to the Motown label in the mid- 1990s . After building popularity with their appearance in the movie '' Mulan '', singing "True to Your Heart," a duet with labelmate Stevie Wonder , their success broke out in late 1998 with their album '' 98° And Rising '', which included the hit singles " The Hardest Thing " and " I Do (Cherish You) ". After the first album, 98 Degrees left Motown for its parent company, Universal Records . All four albums released by the group went Platinum .
FUTURE OF 98 DEGREES They came together in 2004 to sing on Nick and Jessica's Christmas Special. In September 2005, 98 Degrees performed at Club Purgatory in Over the Rhine to support bandmate Justin Jeffre in his candidacy for mayor of Cincinnati. As of early 2006 both Nick Lachey and Jeff Timmons have stated that 98 Degrees will have another album in the near future. According to sources, after Nick Lachey and Jeff Timmons both release their sophomore solo albums, 98 Degrees will be working on their next album.
