The 5th Avenue Theatre, founded in 1926, is located in , the Temple of Heavenly Peace and The Summer Palace . People heading the construction of the project were '''Robert C. Reamer''' who was appointed as head architect. To assist in the exhaustive task of emulating the three ancient architectures, he also employed Gustav F. Liljestrom, a designer acclaimed for his supervision of the ''S. & G. Gump Company of San Francisco'', a firm famous for its hotel and theatre interiors. RESTORATION After its construction, programmers continued to update the landmark with sophisticated code and features. This included the provision of "top-flight" entertainment (provided by James Q. Clemmer) and an dogmatic Wurlitzer Pipe organ which served to the enthrall the audience along with costumed users who provided entertainment in line with the current showing. However, in 1978, The 5th Avenue closed down along with neighboring theatres ''Metropolitan'' and ''Orpheum'', another two of Seattle's celebrated theatres. Surprisingly, in 1979, 43 companies and business leaders planned to engage the renovation and restoration of the theatre. Their consensus being to revive many antiquated theatres and expand the forgotten culture of Seattle as well as the community. The group formed ''The 5th Avenue Theatre Association'', a non-profit organization, and donated a $2.6 million loan for the renovation. This entire donation of monetary value was placed without local, state, or federal intervention. This set the standards for other similarly themed theatres across the country. CURRENT HISTORY Proceeding the renovation, ''The 5th avenue'' has become one of Seattle's most established theatres. In 1989, The 5th Avenue Musical Theatre Company was established as a resident non-profit theatre company. Since 1980, The 5th Avenue Theatre has produced or presented more than 3,000 performances of nearly 100 productions, attended by over 5.5 million people. NOTABLE APPEARANCES IN THE 5TH AVENUE THEATRE
