The 2nd Continental Light Dragoons also known as '''Sheldon's Horse''' was raised on December 12 , 1776 at Wethersfield, Connecticut for service with the Continental Army . The regiment would see action at the Battle Of Brandywine , Battle Of Germantown and the Battle Of Yorktown . The regiment was furloughed June 9 1783 at Newburgh, New York and disbanded on November 20 , 1783.

The Guidon of the 2nd was captured by Banastre Tarleton in 1779; in 2006 it will go up for auction.
