2nd Battalion 14th Marines (2/14) is a reserve Artillery battalion comprised of three firing batteries and a headquarters battery. The battalion is based in Grand Prairie, Texas and its primary weapon system is the M198 Howitzer with a maximum effective range of 30km.


MISSION

Augment and reinforce active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency or contingency operations.

HISTORY


Activated March 26, 1943 as 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines, at , Battle Of Tinian and the Battle Of Iwo Jima . Redeployed during October 1945 to Camp Pendleton, California
Deactivated 15 November, 1945

Reactivated July 1, 1962 at Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Training Center, Dallas Texas. Assigned during February 1966 to the 4th Marine Division, USMCR. Relocated during 1988 to Fort Worth, Texas

Participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm , Southwest Asia , November 1990-April 1991. Relocated March, 2000 to Grand Prairie, Texas
