2008 Rugby League World Cup





ENTRY REGULATIONS

The Rugby League International Federation has stipulated that each competing nation must meet the following criteria relating to domestic players:

  • Each squad must contain a minimum of six players who have been registered in the relevant domestic competition for at least one year, or

  • Each squad must contain at least six players who have played in that nation's junior internation teams within the 18 months prior to the tournament.

The following teams have been given automatic entry into the World Cup:



Teams yet to qualify

The remaining places in the tournament will be determined by qualifying matches played amongst three regions: Europe, the Pacific and the Atlantic. The top two teams from the Pacific qualifier and the winner of the two second round groups in the European qualifiers will play in the World Cup. The runners-up from the two European groups, the third placed Pacific team and the winner of the Atlantic qualifiers will play in a repechage for the tenth place at the world cup.
