The economy was up and the Cold War was over. 1990s pop culture actually has its roots in 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall . Quickly a movement was seen to abandon the 1980s , as it was not 'cool' anymore. 1994 1994 is probrably most often associated with the rebirth of Punk Rock and the television Sit-com Friends with Woodstock 1994 and the Rachel Haircut craze throughout the 90s. DirecTV was founded in this year, leading the way to other major satellite services like Dish Network a year later. The popular Internet Site Yahoo! was formed and Snapple Tea was first distributed.

Pokemon got every kid in the world in a ''gotta catch'em all'' hypnotized state and Harry Potter books Magic ally flew off shelves everywhere. Every girl needed their Backstreet Boys poster as Boyband s became the newest Trend in Music .
1998 1998 was the birth year of the mighty soccer mom and their armada of SUV's. Teenagers began to act like babies again through the Baby Bottle Pop and blinking Pacifier s. And what is to blame for all this, most likely El Niño of course. Digimon got big in this year echoing the Pokemon boom a year before and MTV first launches its popular TRL show. The Game Boy Color and Furby craze also took the world by storm this year.
1999 1999 came and everybody freaked! While some were Partying like it was, well 1999, others were busy paranoid about the Y2K bug. Among the Paranoia some cool trends caught peoples attention. George Lucas decided to finally release the Episode I of the long awaited Star Wars Saga and Nintendo got us all again with the catchy Mario Party Series causing children and adults alike to go for days playing Mini-games . Sega released their short lived Sega Dreamcast and Family Guy was first aired on FOX which would later become a signature show of the 2000s .
