(were involved in their 17th FA Cup Semi-Final), to be played against Nottingham Forest F.C. , resulting in the loss of 96 lives.

June 24 - In the final FIFA U-16 World Championship 1989 , Saudi Arabia surprising winners at kick-off penalty to Scotland in Glasgow .
