Information About

1966 24 Hours Of Lemans

This race saw the closest finish in LeMans history. The two Shelby-American entries of #1 and #2 were on the same lap in the closing laps, and therefore ran together for a photo finish for publicity, with car #1 cross the line first since it had been leading at the time. However, since car #1 started towards the front of the field while car #2 started further back, #2 actually covered the greater distance from start to finish due to it's proximity to the #1 car at the end.

The margin of victory was determined to be approximately 20 meters following 4,843km of racing.
