  • August, the National Assembly approves the Presidential Election Bill that called for holding of elections, on the basis of Basic Democracies, for the President , national and provincial assemblies in early 1965. According to the 1962 constitution, the first term of President Ayub Khan was to expire on August 8, 1965.
