Information About16th Avenue (york Region) |
|
The road was laid out during the planning by early settlers in the region to divide the land into farms. Much of the farmland is now gone, as residential development expands in York Region towards the north. Environmentalist and urban planners want the region and province to halt the development of land north of the street and in particular to the wellbeing of the Oak Ridges Moraine . 16th Avenue is the easternmost portion of a much longer street that runs west to Brampton in Peel Region , employing five different names in total. At Yonge Street , it changes to Carrville Road . After crossing Bathurst Street , it becomes Rutherford Road , and enters the City of Vaughan . It changes to Castlemore Road as it crosses into Brampton at Highway 50 , and has one last name change within that city when it reaches Airport Road , becoming Bovaird Drive . The entire road is the northermost predominently urban street that crosses from York Region/ Toronto to Peel Region. Streets to the north and south of 16th Avenue : |
