The 1000BASE-X is not an actual standard. Rather, it is shorthand for the two Gigabit Ethernet standards that use Fibre-optic . 1000BASE-SX and 1000BASE-LX use one pair of fiber-optic cables (dual simplex). One fiber is used to Transmit and the other to Receive . 1000BASE-SX uses short wave (850nm) Laser , while 1000BASE-LX uses long wave (1310nm) laser. |
